Last weekend I was kindly lent a smart car for the day in London as part of their #smart21 campaign, a digital treasure hunt which gives you the opportunity to
win a smart Edition 21 for eight weeks and a variety of other exciting prizes
including shopping vouchers, a weekend away and cinema tickets. Check out the website here to for full details and to enter!
. Although I can drive I haven't actually taken my test yet (moving to London I completely lost motivation to do it ha) so I had my mumma stay round and come out with me for the day! We went out on Sunday and the traffic around London was surprisingly really good so we were able to get around and do a lot.
First stop was Notting Hill, it's been one of my favourite places to go to at the weekend since I've moved here and it's not far from where I live so we headed down in the morning and first stop was Bubbleology for a couple of passion fruit bubble teas, which we kept in the very handy double cup holder in our smart car!
We then parked the car in a nifty space on the end of Kensington Park Gardens and walked down to Portobello market to have a look and some vintage furs, jewellery and pretty antiques!
For lunch we drove back up to Notting Hill Gate for my fave Italian spot in London- Sugos! I had my favourite, Gnocchi with spinach and chicken, as always and Mum had the most beautiful lasagne. I think I've blogged about this place before but seriously guys if you're into Italian it's the place to be.
Seriously full of Italian food, we hopped back in out smart car and headed to Kings Road in Chelsea to hit the Blue Bird. We had a little mooch around the gorgeous shop they have below the bar and suffered some serious label envy, and found ourselves in the little salon they have in the corner- just in time for a little pamper! Post neck-and-back-massage and in total relaxation mode we headed upstairs for a cocktail- The Tiffany Rose is the one ladies. Driving around London was actually really nice for me- I never get to see anything on the tube so driving down embankment past all of the pretty bridges I couldn't resist a picture stop.
We ended the day at Somerset House for an ice skate! I haven't actually done it in years but it was such a laugh and we didn't fall over which was pretty unexpected. It was such a lovely festive thing to do, and Somerset House looks absolutely stunning all dolled up for Christmas. In the middle of our session one couple actually stopped in the middle and the guy got down on one knee and proposed, she said yes (how can you not in the middle of a Somerset House ice rink?!) and it was so romantic. Definitely worth a go if you're in London, but make sure you book!
