Feels good to be back

Monsoon jacket & dress | Aigner bag | Kurt Geiger trainers

I'm really into navy hues right now. There's something about it so understated but chic, and where better to wear that than in a city of stylish women so nonchalant it hurts. After a few seasons of stomping the Tuileries and climbing Parisian steps in heels that left me either blister-ridden or tearful in pain, it was time to trial something less ankle-breaking. I picked up these Kurt Geiger flatforms at their London Fashion Week breakfast and instantly knew they were to be on my feet as I boarded the Eurostar. Super comfortable, supportive and perfect for travel and approved by Karlie Kloss (see the new KG campaign), so I guess that means they're fashion-week appropriate too. And they finished off my all-navy look seamlessly. Delicate lace and flatforms? A sports-luxe sartorial juxtaposition I'm loving right now and a trend I've spotted on the AW16 collections here too.

This look saw me right the way through our first day in sweet Paree. For the first couple of days Lizzy and I stayed in the cutest apartment (thanks again, Airbnb) in the 16th arrondissement, practically a stones throw from the Eiffel tower and only a 10 minute walk to our shows at Palais de Tokyo. Naturally, we spent the first few hours exploring the new 'hood (these photos were actually shot on our road), eventually sauntering down to get a look at Madame Eiffel in all her glory. After few coffees - that 5am Eurostar really was a killer - at our favourite Café le Dome we decided to order some snails too. Now I don't know whether it was my lack of sleep and therefore lack of co-ordination or the slippery little suckers themselves, but I managed to have a full-on pretty woman moment and launched one of my escargot and it's puddle of garlic sauce right across the restaurant. Thankfully, the other garlic-showered guests found it quite entertaining (oh, the idiot tourist) and I manage to rescue the patch of suede on my shoe that got saturated in snail juice. Paris Fashion Week ain't all that glamorous, hey?

By the evening, it was time to head to Le Bristol hotel for our first presentation, Ingie. All red-lights, champagne and luxe fabrics the whole experience was quite the shin-dig. Inspired by Diana Vreeland, the pieces were artistic yet timeless with bold reds, blacks and metallics dominating the collection with ditsy floral prints dotted throughout. Elegant, impressive and I even spied a nod of approval from Franca Sozzani who was also there.

After a couple of emptied flutes the presentation came to a close and we were so ready for bed, so jumped in an uber back to the apartment, stuck on Crazy Stupid Love (because you can never get enough Gosling wherever in the world you are, can you?) and called it a night. Shop my look below and stay tuned for more PFW goodness.
