Mykonos

Mykonos with Zinas Villas

. October 13, 2016 .
Today's travel post is all about an amazing whirlwind few days I spent in Mykonos with Charlotte back in September. Less than 72 hours after landing from Turkey (with two jam-packed days at LFW in between!), it was time to head back to Gatwick for the zillionth time this year to catch a flight back to my favourite Greek island, Mykonos.

This trip was super spontaneous – having travelled so much this summer and saving/ planning for New York, I hadn't really budgeted for another trip. But, when I received a What's App message from Charlotte saying we'd been invited to stay at some incredible villas on my favourite island, I couldn't resist.

You'll see from Zina's Villas website alone just how stunning their properties are. During the trip, we had the chance to explore a few of them up close and I have to say these villas are some of the most beautiful accommodation I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Throughout each, there's impeccable white and grey decor – true to the traditional style of Mykonos but with lots of modern and luxurious elements too.

Charlotte and I stayed in a gorgeous one bedroom villa up on the hill in the north of the island. Waking up to those panoramic views on the first morning was absolutely breathtaking (and of course knocked the hangover straight from me!). We also got to spend some time at the Aegean Villa the morning before it was hired out for a huge gay wedding! Aptly named, it had unparalleled views of the vast blue Aegean waters from every room. My favourite part though, was the pristine infinity pool that ran the whole length of the villa – the graduated entrance was the perfect chill spot in the scorching Greek sun!

My absolute favourite place, though, was of course owner and fashion designer Panos Zinas' own private villa. After flying in from Athens on his helicopter (casual) to meet us, Panos treated Charlotte and I to a ride around the island at sunset which was honestly an absolute pinch-me moment and one of the most spectacular things I've ever experienced. The villas have their own helipads – naturally – so after the magical ride we stationed near Panos' villa where we spend our first proper evening in Mykonos.

Words or pictures can't really do justice for how incredible his place was. I know I keep saying this – but it was honestly the most beautiful and magnificent place I've ever seen. Often regarded as the best house in the Mediterranean, it's only available to rent for the most exclusive of guests, including a few celebrities and members of global royal families!

Panos has spent the last 25 years decorating, extending and adding the most beautiful elements to his house and the attention to details was just incredible, but I suppose you'd expect nothing less from a successful fashion designer. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking, but for me the highlights were the swim up bar (one of six in the house), the most breathtaking balcony, gorgeous bedrooms, a huge gym overlooking the Aegean, several hammocks and a bridge over the huge infinity pool. Oh, and let's not forget the night club. Like, seriously – the house had absolutely everything and I was just totally blown away by the magnificent beauty of it.

What also made the trip so special were the amazing team at Zinas Villas and of course Panos himself, he was an absolute gentleman and one of the most interesting people. Managers Angela and Penny were also so attentive and welcoming from the very moment they picked us up from the airport through to our last day to make sure we had everything we needed throughout the trip.

Of course, aside from exploring, ahem, lounging around at the beautiful villas, we also made some time to explore the island – by quad bike no less! The beaches here are just as stunning as the rest of the island and some of my favourite in the Med. Crystal blue waters and powder soft sand, we spent a gorgeous couple of afternoons lapping up the sun on Ornos and Super Paradise beaches. We also spent some time getting lost in the white-washed town, watched the sunset in Little Venice and of course enjoyed a couple of crazy nights out at Skandinavain Bar for good measure. It is a party island after all!

All in all – it was a wonderful trip and most definitely won't be my last. Mykonos holds a real special place in my heart and I can't thank the whole team at Zinas enough for inviting us out to enjoy the island in what was a perfect end to the summer. If you're thinking of visiting, be sure to check out the rest of their villas here.
