Two weeks ago today I arrived in America for what would be a wonderful week exploring New York. After an early flight, we hopped in an uber at JFK and got to Manhattan in just over an hour. Despite our tiredness, we were full adrenalin from being so excited and couldn't wait to explore the city and of course, discover the amazing place we'd be staying!
After arriving at about 12 noon, we checked into the incredible Library Hotel where we'd be spending the first night in the city. Possibly one of the most unique and beautiful hotels I've had the pleasure of staying in, the Library is a book-lovers dream. With a collection of over 6000 titles, walls of the 60 rooms are lined with stacked bookshelves with books and art that explore a distinctive topic within the category the floor belongs too! You'll also find collections in the lobby and 'reading room', where breakfast and drinks are served throughout the day. Ideally located a stone's throw from the New York Public Library in Midtown Manhattan, it's
Our room itself was gorgeous. Located up on the 12th floor, we had a breathtaking view of Madison Avenue – I could have honestly sat and watch the people and cars of the city go by for hours from our birds-eye spot. It had everything we needed and more, from a crazy comfortable queen-size bed to refreshments, adorable toiletries and even a bath – all completely essential after our long day of travelling.
One of my favourite touches was the cheese and wine served in the reading room. Provided as a complimentary treat to all guests every evening between 5-8pm, it was the perfect way to unwind after a long afternoon pounding the pavements of the city and a real dreamy start to the evening whether you're heading out for dinner or curling up in bed with a book in your room. We ended up venturing up to the top floor to the roof terrace to take a peek. Aptly named The Writer's Den and Poetry Garden it was just as beautiful as it sounds and despite being awake for 20 hours plus, we couldn't resist a couple of cocktails whilst admiring the view!
Overall, it was a truly amazing stay and loveliest start to our trip. Thank you so much to The Library Hotel for having us and to their wonderful staff for making us feel so welcome. Visit their website for more information and booking here.
