Here we go.. first of many Bali posts! Kicking off with how we kicked off our trip, at the gorgeous Adila hotel in one of my favourite areas of the island, Uluwatu. Situated on the aptly named 'Bali Cliff' road, the house is situated high up above a little jungle forest in Ungasan and just a stone's throw from some of the most beautiful beaches on the whole island.
From our room up on the second floor, we could even see the sea over the hills on a clear morning and opening our curtains to that view on the first morning of the trip made sure we were off to a magical start. I'd barely slept because I was so excited/ jet-lagged, but climbed out of bed at 6 and took a seat on our spacious balcony, soaking up the surroundings as the sun peeked up over the hill. Our friend who we'd planned to meet in Bali surprised us by getting the adjoining top floor room and you can walk from one balcony to another – great if you're travelling with friends. There's a lovely little joint chill-out bit in the middle... where we may or may not have sunk a couple of bottles of rosé catching up on the first night.
The rooms themselves were gorgeous. We stayed in Dua, spacious and open but with lovely traditional Bali design furnishings, they were like a home away from home and I wish we'd had the chance to stay there longer than the two nights we'd planned as the suites and rooms would be perfect for longer stays too. 10/10 for the hugest, most elegant spacious bathroom of the trip too, monsoon shower with a super large mirror and vanity space – literally a dream for getting ready.
The breakfasts here were some of my favourites we had during our time in Bali. The lovely and friendly staff would head down to the market early each morning to get fresh fruit, bread and coconuts etc to freshly prepare for the guests. Fruit bowls and pastries followed by a cooked meal every morning – they were delicious. All guests dined at the main table by the pool, an element of the communal vibe at Adila which I just loved, it was such a novelty to meet so many different people over coffee in the morning!
Adila also held daily activities from yoga with their in-house teacher (who was amazing) to massages with their visiting therapist. Thanks so much to Adila and their wonderful team for having us and providing the best start to our Bali trip. You can visit their website and book rooms from $40 a night here.
